Day 1: Kampala to Mgahinga Mountain Gorilla

On this day, you will have to wake up early and have your breakfast in time before your guide drives to your hotel in Kampala to pick you. Here he will give you a brief about the whole trip before you depart for the long ride. You will then head for the road and head to the West of Uganda through Masaka Road to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

The clients will make a stopover at the equator and have some pictures for remembrance. You can also have a moment to experience the weight changes at both hemispheres. You may opt to have a cup of coffee if you wish. Drive through the Acacia woodland of Ankole and do not miss the famous long-horned Ankole cows commonly found within this region.

Have a chance to ask your guide anything you sight just in case you need more explanation or clarification. Have a stopover in Mbarara at any hotel en route to have lunch. Continue with your Safari through the terraced hills of Kabale. Check in to your lodge, have some time to relax, and then overnight as you prepare for the following day’s expedition!

Day 2 of the 3 Days Mgahinga Gorilla Trekking Uganda Safari: Gorilla Trekking

After morning breakfast, you will set off for Gorilla trekking on the three volcanoes, (Mt Sabinyo, Mt Muhavura, Mt Gahinga). As you trek expect to see Mountain Gorillas especially the Nyakagezi Gorilla Group. Hike up to the top of the Volcanoes and view the whole Park. Return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer Back to Kampala

After breakfast, you will check out of your lodge and find your driver waiting for you. Return to Kampala with a brief stopover on Lake Bunyonyi the second deepest lake in East Africa. Participate in boat riding, sightseeing, taking photos, and other activities.

Hit the road with a lunch stop in Mbarara en route to Kampala. You will arrive in Kampala in the evening. If you are leaving this very day, then you will have a transfer to Entebbe international airport for a departure flight!

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park roars high in the clouds, at an altitude of between 2,227 m and 4,127m . As its name suggests, it was created to protect the rare mountain gorillas that inhabit its dense forest, and is also an important habitat for the endangered golden Monkeys!

As well as being important for wildlife, the park also has a huge cultural significance, in particular for the indigenous Batwa pygmies. This tribe of hunter-gatherers was the forest’s “first people”, and their ancient knowledge of its secrets remains unrivalled.

The most striking features are its three conical, extinct Volcanoes, part of the spectacular Virunga Range that lies along the border region of Uganda, Congo, and Rwanda. This park forms part of the larger Virunga Conservation Area which includes adjacent parks in these countries. The volcanoes’ slopes contain various ecosystems and are biologically diverse, and their peaks provide a striking backdrop to this wonderful scenery

Booking for this 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Tour

We always advise our clients interested in Gorilla trekking to book Gorilla permits at least 3 months in advance to ensure that requested dates are available. This is so because of a high number of trekkers and to allow for proper planning and minimize disappointments to the clients.

Please note that the gorilla trekking can be done in Rwanda and Congo as well if permits can’t be got in Uganda at the time of booking. Trekking starts at 8:30 am local time and can take three to eight hours. The Gorilla trekking fee is $700 per person.

What to Bring

• Wear jungle shoes suitable for steep muddy slopes and carry a rain jacket because the Park is often wet.
• Come with earplugs for those who feel uncomfortable with jungle sound.
• Can carry rain gear, sunscreen lotion, a hat (as the weather is unpredictable), and insect repellent.
