Scenic Drive to Bwindi

Your first stop will be the Equator, where you will have a chance to snap a few photos and learn about the significance of this imaginary line that divides the northern and southern hemispheres. You’ll also pass through Lake Mburo National Park, where you can spot wildlife such as zebras, antelopes, and birds.

Lunch in Mbarara

Midway, the Uganda Gorilla Trekking 4-Day Safari will stop for a well-deserved lunch in Mbarara, a bustling town known for its rich history and strategic location. After lunch, continue on your journey to Bwindi, with more stunning landscapes unfolding as you approach the park.

Arrival and Check-in to Accommodation

Upon arrival in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, check in to your pre-booked lodge or camp. Depending on the lodge’s location, enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding jungle and mountains, which make for a relaxing setting to wind down after a day of travel. Your second day of Uganda Gorilla Trekking 4-Day Safari begins with an early breakfast, as you gear up for your first gorilla trekking experience. The excitement of trekking through Bwindi’s dense, misty forests to find the mountain gorillas will set the tone for an unforgettable day.

Gorilla Trekking: Encountering the Majestic Mountain Gorillas

After breakfast, you’ll meet your Uganda Gorilla Trekking 4-Day Safari expert ranger guides who will provide a safety briefing and assign you to one of the park’s gorilla families. Each group is limited to a maximum of 8 trekkers per day, ensuring a more intimate experience with the gorillas.

The trek will take you deep into the heart of the forest. Expect steep terrain, muddy paths, and dense vegetation as you make your way through the jungle. The guides will keep you informed about the gorillas’ movements, as well as the unique flora and fauna along the way. The trek can last from 2 to 8 hours, depending on the gorilla group’s location.

Once you encounter the gorillas, you’ll have one hour to observe them in their natural habitat. The sight of these magnificent creatures in the wild is nothing short of awe-inspiring. You may see them foraging, playing, or even interacting with each other. The experience of being so close to a gorilla family is truly magical.

Return to the Lodge

Another Early Morning and Second Trek

Day 3 offers another exciting chance to track the mountain gorillas. After an early breakfast, you will once again meet your Uganda Gorilla Trekking 4-Day Safari ranger guides and head to a different part of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This second trek will bring you into contact with a new gorilla family, providing a unique and thrilling experience.

Another Opportunity for Gorilla Encounters

Each gorilla family in Bwindi has its own personality and social structure, and encountering a new group gives you the opportunity to witness different behaviors and interactions. This second trek allows you to observe the gorillas from a fresh perspective, deepening your connection with these incredible creatures and giving you more time to appreciate their complexity and intelligence.

Return to the Lodge

After the second trek, return to your lodge to rest and enjoy your lunch. The afternoon is yours to relax and unwind from the day’s activities. Take in the beauty of Bwindi’s surroundings, explore the lodge’s grounds, or simply sit back and enjoy the tranquility.

Morning at Leisure

After two days of intense but rewarding trekking, your final day begins with a leisurely breakfast. You can relax in the morning and enjoy the beautiful views of Bwindi before your journey back.

Departure: Travel Back to Kampala or Entebbe

After breakfast, you will begin the return journey to Kampala or Entebbe. The scenic drive will take approximately 8 hours, giving you the opportunity to relax and reflect on your incredible Gorilla Trekking 4-Day Safari experiences in Uganda. You’ll pass through picturesque towns and villages, making occasional stops to stretch and take photos of the beautiful landscapes.

Alternatively, if you prefer not to drive, you can take a fly-in flight directly from Bwindi to Entebbe, offering a quicker and more comfortable return to the city. The flight typically lasts about 1 hour and offers spectacular views of Uganda’s forests, lakes, and mountains.

For travelers starting or ending in Rwanda, it’s also possible to end the safari in Kigali via a transfer or flight, making it a seamless border-crossing experience.
