After a hearty breakfast at the Fairview Hotel, you’ll embark on a short drive to Giraffe Manor, an exclusive boutique hotel renowned for its resident herd of endangered Rothschild giraffes. This once-in-a-lifetime experience allows you to interact up close with these gentle giants. Whether it’s feeding a giraffe through your bedroom window or enjoying breakfast with a curious long-necked guest poking in through the dining room, Giraffe Manor is a magical destination.

Located within 140 acres of indigenous forest in the Lang’ata suburb of Nairobi, the manor combines old-world charm with contemporary luxury. During your stay, you’ll learn about giraffe conservation and enjoy guided walks through the nearby Giraffe Centre. Flight to Uganda and Shoebill Tracking at Mabamba

Following breakfast at Giraffe Manor, you’ll transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your scheduled flight to Entebbe International Airport in Uganda. Upon arrival, our local Deks Safaris & Tours team will meet and greet you before driving you to the nearby Mabamba Swamp, one of Uganda’s top birding destinations. Mabamba is renowned for its population of the elusive shoebill stork, a prehistoric-looking bird found in the papyrus swamps.

You’ll embark on a canoe expedition guided by expert local birders who will help you spot the shoebill and other fascinating bird species such as papyrus gonoleks, African pygmy geese, and malachite kingfishers. The experience is both peaceful and exhilarating, as you glide silently through the swamp’s narrow channels. After your birding adventure, you will head to the charming Papyrus Guest House in Entebbe. Nestled in a lush garden setting, this guest house offers a peaceful environment, delightful cuisine, and cozy rooms for a restful night.

Rhino Tracking and the Mighty Murchison Falls

After breakfast, you’ll embark on a scenic road journey to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest national park. En route, you’ll make a stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an incredible opportunity to track white rhinos on foot. This guided walk allows you to observe these majestic creatures at close range in their natural environment, contributing to important rhino conservation efforts in Uganda. Continuing northward, you’ll enter the pristine wilderness of Murchison Falls.

Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Wetland Walk in Kibale Forest

Day 7 of your 16-Day East Africa Safari begins with an unforgettable chimpanzee tracking experience in the lush Kibale Forest National Park. Golden Monkey Tracking and Visit to Iby’Iwachu Cultural Village

Enjoy another captivating primate experience with golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park. These rare, brightly colored monkeys are endemic to the Virunga Mountains and are known for their playful antics and social nature. The tracking adventure takes you through bamboo forests where these agile primates leap from tree to tree, offering excellent opportunities for photography and observation. After an exhilarating morning, return to the lodge for lunch.

Depart Volcanoes National Park after breakfast and enjoy a scenic drive through Rwanda’s well-paved roads and green countryside. Upon reaching Kigali, embark on a guided city tour that includes visits to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you’ll gain insights into Rwanda’s history and path to reconciliation. Other highlights include the bustling Kimironko Market, craft centers, and the historical Belgian Peacekeepers Memorial.
