Detailed 4 Days Chimpanzee and Gorilla Tour in Rwanda
Day 1: Arrival and City Tour of Kigali.
Our tour guide will meet and greet you at Kigali Airport. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial site before beginning a quick city tour of Kigali. Following the tour, drive to Nyungwe Forest, arriving in Nyanza in the evening. At Nyungwe Forest Lodge for dinner and the night.
Day 2 of 4 Days Chimpanzee and Gorilla Tour in Rwanda: Chimpanzee Tracking & Canopy Walk.
You’ll start your chimp trek through this rainforest after breakfast. Before beginning your trek into the Forest in search of the chimpanzees, you must first report to the park headquarters for a briefing from the park rangers. The chance to see chimpanzees will present itself.
The forest is home to a variety of other primates, such as the Rwenzori colobus, L’hoests monkey, Silver monkey, Owl faced monkey, Grey-cheeked Mangabey, and more. In the afternoon, take a canopy walk, an adventure that offers great sightseeing over the forest. Leave for Ruhengeri, Rwanda’s fourth-largest town, where you can enjoy the stunning three volcanic mountains that serve as its backdrop, after the trek. You will reach Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas in the evening. Overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park.
The day starts with an early breakfast at the lodge. Your gorilla tracking briefing will be held at the Volcanoes National Park Offices in Kinigi, which is where our guide will drive you. Start your trek under the direction of local tour guides and rangers after being briefed and assigned to a specific group. There is no set schedule for the trek.
Experience has shown that the journey can range from a short hike of an hour to a long hike inside the forest. You can observe mountain gorillas in the wild for up to an hour after meeting them.
